Western countries are relatively "shielded" from the current energy shock:


Oil transportation volumes on global shipping routes have now fallen to approximately 1.43 billion barrels, a decrease of 270 million barrels over the past 3 weeks.
Meanwhile, commercial crude oil flows in OECD Europe and the Americas have reached approximately 960 million barrels, the highest level since at least 2024.
Since early 2026, Western commercial crude oil flows have increased by 50 million barrels, while global oil transportation volumes have declined significantly.
In fact, American oil giants are about to experience their most profitable year on record.
The United States is extracting and selling oil at an unprecedented pace.
