Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) Bollywood star Jackie Shroff paid tribute to India’s legendary freedom fighters, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, on Shaheed Diwas, celebrated on March 23, honoring their ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
Sharing on his social media account, the actor posted a picture featuring illustrated portraits of the three revolutionaries against the backdrop of the Ashoka Chakra and the colors of the Indian flag.
The text on the picture read, “Their Sacrifice! Our Freedom!” along with “Shaheed Diwas, March 23,” and hashtags like #ShaheedDiwas and #FreedomFighters.
For those unfamiliar, Shaheed Diwas is observed every year on March 23 to commemorate the martyrdom of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar, who were executed by the British colonial government in 1931.
The day serves as a poignant reminder of the young heroes’ courage, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to India’s independence movement.
Regarding Bhagat Singh, he remains one of the most iconic revolutionaries in Indian history, known for his fearless ideology and acts of resistance against British rule.
Alongside him, Rajguru and Sukhdev played crucial roles in revolutionary activities and the independence movement, including the assassination of British officer J.P. Saunders as a protest against colonial oppression.
Their sacrifice at a young age continues to inspire generations even after 95 years since their martyrdom.
Meanwhile, talking about Jackie Shroff, the actor has consistently marked special occasions related to cinema and its legends.
Recently, he has paid tribute and shared memories on social media, from honoring icons like Madhubala, Sridevi, and Shashi Kapoor on their birth and death anniversaries, to celebrating milestones of his own films.
