A man claiming to be an active Japanese Self-Defense Forces officer in Japan this morning forcibly broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan. He admitted his actions were illegal and threatened to kill Chinese diplomats in the name of a so-called god. Embassy staff subdued him, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested the suspect for trespassing into a building.

According to reports from Kyodo News, the 23-year-old man is Second Lieutenant Murata Akihiro, affiliated with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force at the Ebino garrison. A knife, possibly brought by him, was found nearby when he was subdued. No one was injured in the incident.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin previously stated that China is deeply shocked by this incident, has lodged a serious protest with Japan, and demanded a thorough investigation, severe punishment for those involved, and a responsible explanation from Japan.
