The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) today announced the filing of charges against four staff members of a former designated vehicle testing center under the Transport Department, accusing them of falsifying vehicle emissions test results and assisting multiple private cars to pass annual vehicle inspections.

The Transport Department stated that it has been fully cooperating with ICAC investigations into allegations of fraud involving personnel at a designated vehicle testing center. The department terminated the testing center’s certification in June 2024, and the responsible person and approved vehicle tester at the center have also had their qualifications revoked.

A spokesperson for the Transport Department emphasized that the department has been fully assisting the investigation and has immediately implemented a series of measures to prevent misconduct. The department has strengthened oversight of testing center operations, requiring all vehicle testers to undergo regular training and adhere to government testing standards. The department will actively implement ICAC’s anti-corruption recommendations, enhance staff training, and promote integrity and ethical conduct.

Additionally, the department stressed that it places great importance on staff integrity and ethics. Any violations or illegal activities will be dealt with seriously according to the law, and law enforcement agencies will be involved for further investigation.
