Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghazi by phone on the 24th.

Alaghazi briefed on the latest developments in the regional situation, thanked China for providing emergency humanitarian aid, and stated that the Iranian people are more united in resisting external aggression and defending national sovereignty and independence. Iran is committed to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, not just a temporary one. The Strait of Hormuz is open to all, and ships can pass safely, but warring countries are not under consideration. He hopes all parties take measures that help de-escalate the situation rather than escalate the conflict. He looks forward to China continuing to play a positive role in promoting peace and stopping the war.

Wang Yi reiterated China’s principled stance, emphasizing that all hot-button issues should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, not by force. Talking is always better than fighting. This benefits the interests of Iran and its people and aligns with the common wishes of the international community. He hopes all parties seize every opportunity and window for peace to quickly start the peace talks process. China will continue to uphold an objective and fair stance, oppose violations of other countries’ sovereignty, actively promote peace and ceasefire, and work towards regional peace and stability.
