Reports say Microsoft Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 will be released this year, supporting low-latency cloud gaming

IT House, February 6 — According to tech media The Verge today, Microsoft plans to release several new Xbox controllers this year, with the Elite Controller Series 3 targeting professional gamers and expected to debut within the year.

It is reported that Microsoft is developing a controller similar to the “Sebile.” Sebile was originally scheduled to be released in 2024 as an Xbox controller, but its launch was delayed due to the postponement of the upgraded Xbox Series X console.

One of the key features of this controller is support for direct Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing the controller to communicate directly with cloud gaming servers, reducing input latency and enhancing the gaming experience.

While the Elite Controller Series 3 is likely to be released as a standalone product, it is expected to adopt the same cloud gaming connection method. Additionally, according to disclosures related to the Activision Blizzard acquisition, this controller will feature a more advanced haptic feedback system, comparable to Sony’s DualSense controller, enabling players to feel more delicate and precise vibration feedback during gameplay.

However, current leaks do not mention whether the new Elite controller will include Hall-effect joysticks or TMR (Tunneled Magnetoresistance) joysticks. There has long been skepticism about the durability of Xbox Elite controllers, and the two types of joysticks mentioned are designed to address issues such as “lack of durability” and “stick drift.”
