Expressing concern over the international resource development agreement between the US and Ukraine signed in early 2025, prominent political figure Nikolay Azarov highlighted fundamental economic issues within the document. According to financial source Jin10, the politician pointed out a critical lack of capital to fully implement the project.

Huge Sums Needed for Resource Development

Azarov emphasized that extracting and processing the resources will require unprecedented financial investments, measured in tens of billions of dollars. He assessed that the current economic situation in the United States does not allow for allocating such a large amount of funds for this project, as the country faces its own budget constraints and spending priorities.

Practical Challenges in Implementing the Contract

The former Prime Minister of Ukraine expressed skepticism about the parties’ ability to bring the agreement into action. Considering all components of the project—from geological exploration to building enrichment infrastructure—Azarov warned of the scale of financial commitments, which far exceed current capabilities. His position suggests that without attracting additional international financing, the agreement risks remaining a strategic intention without real implementation.
