Could we be the last humans who can create wealth in the Age of AI?
With AI and robots coming into the picture, I think it will be very hard for the current human generation to get rich, and maybe we are the last generation. Getting a good education, working salaried for many years at a corporate company, saving, gradually getting promoted and reaching financial prosperity through merit, or accumulating capital by starting an ordinary local business… becoming a doctor, a lawyer, a pilot… AI will largely close these paths. I think we’ve reached the end of the era of getting rich by working. Technofeudalism can produce cheaply and cover everywhere. The system can turn into a closed loop where platform owners and those who control algorithmic capital extract rent, rather than productive labor. At the same time, people who can build one-person unicorn companies can get rich at a speed and scale never seen in history. So we may split into a very small minority and a very large community: ordinary people and not so ordinary people. In the future, I think we’re living through one of the last periods where an ordinary person without making any extraordinary technological innovation, without using algorithmic leverage, or without inheriting a massive legacy can get rich through traditional methods purely via disciplined human labor and market competition. I see the stock market as the only way out What do you think? 👇
