Brazilian president criticizes U.S. taxation as unconventional

On February 22nd, local time, Brazilian President Lula publicly commented on the United States’ unilateral tariff increase. He stated that the U.S. casually announced the tariff decision via social media, which violates the diplomatic practice of prior consultation between the finance minister and the trade and industry minister, and the method of imposing tariffs is highly unconventional. Lula said that he has always believed that when a fever reaches 39 degrees, no decision should be made; one must wait for the fever to subside before making a decision. National decisions should be cautious and rational.
