Telegram scam new method exposed: Fake bots steal wallets and personal information

Abstract generation in progress

Telegram scams are evolving with new tactics. Recently, many users have received warning messages from supposed friends claiming their accounts have been flagged for fraud, and offering to resolve the issue through a bot that appears to be official. While this friendly warning seems helpful, it is actually a carefully crafted Telegram scam trap. The scam groups use layered methods, with the ultimate goal of stealing users’ wallet information and other sensitive data.

Three-step scam trap: account theft to wallet compromise

This new type of scam on Telegram involves three interconnected stages, forming a complete scam chain.

First, the scammers hack into your trusted friend’s account. These compromised accounts are often used to send false warnings, increasing credibility. When the warning comes from someone you know, your guard drops significantly.

Second, in the “evidence screenshot” sent by the friend, you will see your Telegram chat window marked with a red fraud label. These screenshots look very realistic, enough to make you worry about your account security. Careful users will notice that these images often show a “Nicegram” label — an unofficial Telegram client app that allows managing unlimited accounts on a single device, which is a tool scammers use to control large numbers of Telegram accounts in bulk.

The third and most critical step: the compromised friend’s account “kindly” suggests you use a bot called “SpnzonBot” to fix the problem. This is the core trap — SpnzonBot is a malicious bot pretending to be the official Telegram spam info bot. Interacting with this fake bot puts your personal information and wallet at risk of theft.

How to identify fake official bots

The simplest protection is: when a friend notifies you of an account issue, verify directly through another communication platform (such as Line, WhatsApp, or a phone call). This extra step can effectively block most scams.

Second, learn to distinguish official from unofficial tools. While Nicegram is a legitimate third-party app, it is heavily exploited by scam groups to manage stolen accounts. If you see a non-official Telegram app label in the screenshot, that’s a red flag.

For any unfamiliar Telegram bot, the key rule is: never link your crypto wallet or provide advanced personal information. Official solutions will never ask you to authorize wallet linking. If in doubt, visit Telegram’s official website or contact official support directly, rather than interacting through a bot.

Protect your Telegram assets: practical defense guidelines

To stay safe within the Telegram ecosystem, establishing multiple layers of protection is essential. First, enable two-step verification to make account theft more difficult. Second, regularly check your account activity logs for unfamiliar logins.

If your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and notify all your frequent contacts to prevent them from becoming victims of the next scam wave. Be highly cautious of any suspicious bot requests. Telegram’s official tools are transparent and will never covertly ask for sensitive information.

Finally, if you receive an invitation from malicious bots like SpnzonBot, report and block immediately. Each report helps Telegram identify and remove scam tools faster. Through these practical actions, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to Telegram scams.
