Shandong Maritime Safety Administration reports a fire on a Singapore-flagged bulk carrier: 2 foreign crew members have no vital signs.

Shandong Maritime Search and Rescue Center reports that at approximately 19:40 on February 17, 2026, the Weihai Maritime Search and Rescue Center received a report: The Singapore-flagged bulk carrier “MANDY” was at coordinates 36°45′N, 123°05′E, with a fire in the engine room, resulting in two foreign crew members missing and one foreign crew member injured. After mobilizing professional rescue vessels, helicopters, and nearby merchant ships organized by the Shandong Provincial and Weihai Maritime Search and Rescue Centers, the fire has been extinguished, and the injured crew member was promptly taken to hospital for treatment. The two missing crew members were found inside the engine room and are no longer alive. Currently, follow-up rescue operations are proceeding in an orderly manner, and the cause of the incident is under investigation. (Shandong Maritime)
