Funds Password is a reinforced protection mechanism for your Gate.io account, operating independently from your login password. Unlike the password you use to log in, the Funds Password specifically applies to sensitive operations and is required during security checks and withdrawals. This additional layer of protection was developed to ensure that even if someone gains access to your login account, extra authentication will be needed to access your funds.

What is the Funds Password and Why Is It Important

The Funds Password functions as a second security factor dedicated exclusively to asset transfer operations. By enabling this protection, you add an extra barrier that significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access to your funds. The distinction between the login password and the Funds Password makes security more robust, as an attacker would need to compromise both credentials to perform withdrawals or other critical operations.

Step-by-Step: Setting Up Your Funds Password

To activate this protection on your account, follow the steps below:

1st step: Access the Account and Security page in your account settings menu.

2nd step: Navigate to Advanced Protection and select the Funds Password option, then click Settings.

3rd step: Enter your desired Funds Password. Remember, it must be between 8 and 30 characters, including at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. Important: The Funds Password cannot be identical to your login password.

4th step: After entering the password, click Confirm and complete the required Security Verification process.

Done! You have successfully set up your Funds Password, and your account now has additional protection.

How to Change or Disable the Funds Password

If you need to modify or remove this security layer, locate the Funds Password option, where you will see two available buttons: Change (to update the password) or Disable (to remove protection).

An important detail: after resetting your Funds Password, you will not be able to make withdrawals for the next 24 hours. This measure was implemented as an extra safeguard against unauthorized actions on your account.

If you cannot remember your Funds Password, the system offers two ways to reset it:

Option 1: In the Disable Funds Password window, look for the link “Having verification issues?” and click on it.

Option 2: When accessing Change Funds Password, look for the “Forgot Funds Password” option.

Both options will redirect you to the Security Settings Reset page. Select the specific option for Funds Password reset and click Confirm. You will need to complete a mandatory Security Verification and possibly an additional verification according to the platform’s policies.

After submitting the request, check the inbox of the email associated with your account for instructions on how to reset. The review and approval process typically takes between 1 and 2 business days, so please be patient during this step.
