State Administration for Market Regulation: This year, in breaking down local protectionism and administrative monopolies, the State Administration for Market Regulation will focus on three key areas.

The State Council Information Office held a press conference today (the 5th), during which the State Administration for Market Regulation introduced that over the past year, the special campaign to rectify abuse of power and eliminate, restrict competition saw a 34% increase in cases filed and a 32% increase in cases concluded compared to the previous year. Market regulation departments at all levels reviewed and amended more than 12,000 important policy measures proposed by local governments, effectively ensuring that major policies and measures comply with the requirements of a unified national market and fair competition, with government actions becoming more standardized. This year, in breaking down local protectionism and administrative monopolies, the State Administration for Market Regulation will focus on three areas: First, strictly enforce laws and handle cases, organize special campaigns, concentrate on investigating key cases, promote the abolition of regulations and practices that hinder the unified national market and fair competition, and comprehensively improve the effectiveness and quality of anti-monopoly law enforcement in preventing abuse of administrative power to exclude or restrict competition; second, strengthen source governance, deeply implement the Fair Competition Review Regulations, study and revise supporting implementation measures, improve the review mechanism for important policy measures, strictly limit the application of exceptions, and resolutely prevent the introduction of policies and measures that exclude or restrict competition; third, focus on compliance building, fully leverage the role of the Office of the Anti-Monopoly and Unfair Competition Committee of the State Council, strengthen cross-departmental risk consultations and information sharing, and enhance policy coordination.
