Alternative Asset Management Ares Management(ARES.US) invests heavily in AI! $2.4 billion debt financing to support Vantage Data Center infrastructure

Alternative asset management firm Ares Management (ARES.US) is providing $2.4 billion in debt financing to Vantage Data Centers, with some funds potentially used to support infrastructure development needed for Oracle (ORCL.US) and OpenAI collaboration.

In a statement via email, Ares said it has agreed to provide $1.6 billion in financing to Vantage and has already allocated approximately $330 million for the project. These funds will be used to support data center development, construction, and operation within Vantage’s North American portfolio, as well as to refinance existing debt.

With the rise of artificial intelligence, Ares and other lenders are accelerating the provision of substantial capital needed for infrastructure development. The Los Angeles-based company previously stated plans to raise over $8 billion in equity funding in the short term to support data center-related investments.

Ares noted that Vantage’s portfolio includes 17 campuses primarily supporting cloud computing and AI technologies. Assets within the portfolio are leased long-term to major cloud service providers. It is reported that DigitalBridge Group Inc. is backing Vantage. The company agreed last year to be acquired by SoftBank Group, owned by Masayoshi Son, for approximately $3 billion in cash. Its portfolio also includes several digital infrastructure operators, including Aims Group, AtlasEdge, DataBank, Switch, and Yondr Group.
