Abstract generation in progress

IT Home, February 10 — Intel today released the latest Wi-Fi driver update package (24.20.0), adding support for some new hardware and clarifying the functional boundaries of Wi-Fi 7 across different Windows versions.

The 24.20.0 driver package supports Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11 systems. After installation, the corresponding driver version is 24.20.0.4. Compatible wireless network cards include:

  • Wi-Fi 7: BE213, BE211, BE202, BE201, BE200;

  • Wi-Fi 6E/6: AX411, AX211, AX210, AX203, AX201, AX200, AX101;

  • As well as earlier models such as 9560, 9462, 9461, 9260, and others.

Intel emphasizes that this software package provides driver support for the latest generation Wi-Fi 7 products (BE211, BE213). Additionally, since version 23.170.0, Wi-Fi drivers have completed validation for Windows 11 25H2.

In terms of functionality, all Wi-Fi 7 products support the 6GHz band. However, the actual availability of 6GHz depends on Windows 11 system support, and these Wi-Fi 7 network cards are in a “functionally limited” state on Windows 10.

Intel also points out that Wi-Fi 7 features require at least Windows 11 24H2 to be available. This means that even if the hardware itself supports Wi-Fi 7, if the system version does not meet the requirements, the related new features cannot be fully enabled.

Meanwhile, Intel continues to discontinue driver support for older products. Starting from version 23.50.0, this package no longer includes drivers for discontinued models such as Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 (Rev. D), 3168, 3165; from version 22.220.0 onward, drivers for 8260 and 8265 are also no longer included. Series like 7265 (Rev. C), 3160, 7260 have entered EOL lifecycle and no longer receive corresponding drivers. Users still using these older network cards can obtain support through older driver versions.

Additionally, Intel explained the reason why some users see driver version discrepancies on older network cards: starting from 22.100.X, Intel introduced a unified INF file in the installation package to support all Wi-Fi 6E adapters, simplifying installation and compatibility maintenance.
