Itron's $525 Million Acquisition Of Locusview Signals Major Push Into Infrastructure Digitalization
Itron, Inc. (ITRI) announced on Monday the completion of its agreement to acquire Locusview, Ltd., a software and services provider specializing in utility infrastructure management. The all-cash transaction, valued at $525 million, represents a strategic expansion into digital construction and operations management for critical infrastructure sectors. Settlement is slated for January 2026.
Strategic Rationale And Market Positioning
The acquisition marks Itron’s enhanced focus on infrastructure digitalization. Locusview operates a SaaS-based platform specifically engineered for utility operators, addressing the growing demand for streamlined construction project management and operational efficiency. According to Tom Deitrich, president and CEO of Itron, the integration strengthens the company’s Resiliency Solutions portfolio while positioning it to capture growth in grid modernization and infrastructure expansion.
“This combination creates a powerful ecosystem for utility operators,” Deitrich stated. “The scalable architecture allows critical infrastructure providers to consolidate planning, execution, and project closure into unified, real-time workflows—capabilities that are essential as utilities scale grid investments and optimize operational performance.”
About The Acquisition
Locusview brings a purpose-built platform trusted across the utility industry. The company, founded by Shahar Levi, pioneered enterprise-scale digital construction management by consolidating fragmented workflows into a single operational interface. Levi emphasized the transformative potential: “This milestone enables us to accelerate our mission globally, providing infrastructure operators with tools designed specifically for their operational complexities while maintaining our commitment to category leadership in digital construction management.”
The transaction will be financed using Itron’s existing cash reserves, reinforcing the company’s strategic focus on high-ROI acquisitions within the infrastructure technology sector.
