Nordex Gets Major Renewable Energy Contract For Large-Scale Irish Wind Project
Nordex Group has landed a significant contract to deliver and commission 12 N133/4.8 wind turbines for the Drumnahough Wind Farm located in County Donegal, Ireland. The project represents a combined effort between energy partners SSE and FuturEnergy Ireland, with an anticipated total generating capacity of approximately 60 megawatts.
As part of the comprehensive agreement, Nordex will provide ongoing technical support and maintenance services through its Premium Service package, ensuring optimal turbine performance throughout the operational lifecycle. The manufacturing and installation phase is projected to begin in 2027.
According to Jason Welch, who oversees Nordex’s UK and Ireland operations, this award underscores the company’s continued involvement in Ireland’s clean energy expansion. “We’re honored to have been selected for this renewable energy initiative at Drumnahough Wind Farm, which represents another significant advancement in the country’s transition toward sustainable power generation,” Welch noted.
The project highlights the growing momentum in wind energy development across Ireland, as utilities and renewable energy developers increasingly invest in utility-scale installations to meet climate and energy security objectives. Nordex’s selection reflects its technical capabilities and track record in delivering large-capacity turbine systems to the European market.
