Gregory L. Ebel Assumes Enbridge Inc. Leadership Role As Al Monaco Exits
Enbridge Inc. (ENB), a prominent Canadian pipeline infrastructure operator, announced Monday that Gregory L. Ebel, currently serving as Board Chair, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2023. This transition marks a significant shift in the company’s top leadership, with Ebel replacing Al Monaco, who is stepping down from his executive responsibilities.
Prior to his five-year tenure as Board Chair at Enbridge, Ebel held extensive experience in the energy sector. From 2009 through February 2017, he served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Spectra Energy, where he spearheaded the company’s transformation into one of North America’s leading gas infrastructure enterprises.
Monaco, in reflecting on Ebel’s appointment and track record, emphasized the incoming executive’s capabilities: “His leadership at Spectra built it into one of the premier North American gas infrastructure businesses, and over the last five years, his Board oversight has been highly supportive of Enbridge’s strategy and execution.”
The leadership change positions Gregory L. Ebel to guide Enbridge through its next phase of operations, leveraging his proven experience in pipeline and energy infrastructure management across multiple senior roles.
