Knife River Secures Major Texas Infrastructure Contract Worth $112 Million
Knife River Corp. (KNF) has clinched a significant infrastructure materials contract, marking another milestone for the construction services contractor. The company will serve as a key subcontractor under Fluor Corporation’s massive $671 million Texas Department of Transportation initiative centered on State Highway 6 improvements, commonly known as the Big 6 project.
Project Scope and Delivery
The scope of work positions Knife River as a critical materials supplier for this ambitious roadway transformation initiative. Over the project timeline extending through 2030, the company will be responsible for sourcing and delivering approximately 928,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt to support the highway’s widening efforts. Beyond asphalt delivery, Knife River will furnish essential materials including sand, MSE backfill, and base course materials on an as-needed basis throughout construction phases.
The infrastructure upgrade encompasses comprehensive improvements such as expanded roadway capacity, reconfigured interchange systems, auxiliary lane optimization, and addition of dedicated bicycle and pedestrian pathways. As a materials contractor, Knife River will play a foundational role in these modernization efforts.
Market Response
Following the announcement, KNF shares reflected investor confidence in the contract win. Pre-market trading showed shares at $74.43, representing a 0.51% increase on the New York Stock Exchange, indicating market recognition of the company’s strengthened project pipeline and revenue visibility through 2030.
