Next-Generation Nissan Navara Announced For Australian And New Zealand Markets—Here's What We Know
Nissan Motor Corporation’s local division confirmed the arrival of its latest Navara generation, marking an exciting moment for pickup enthusiasts across the Oceania region. The highly anticipated model will hit dealership floors starting Q1 2026, building on four decades of market presence since the original 1986 launch.
Powerhouse Performance Under The Hood
The engineering team has equipped this iteration with a formidable 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine—a choice that balances raw capability with practical efficiency. The motor generates 150 kW (204 PS) of output alongside a peak torque symbol reading of 470 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Real-world fuel consumption stands at an impressive 7.7 L/100 km under WLTC testing protocols.
Electric power steering (EPS) technology replaces its predecessor’s hydraulic setup, delivering sharper response and easier maneuverability across varied terrain. Whether navigating city streets or rough track work, the steering system adapts seamlessly to different driving scenarios.
Smart All-Terrain Capability
The intelligent four-wheel-drive architecture deserves special attention. Rather than a traditional fixed setup, it intelligently determines when to operate in two-wheel or four-wheel mode—automatically engaging all wheels during towing operations or demanding work tasks, then reverting to two-wheel drive for highway cruising to conserve fuel and reduce wear.
Safety And Convenience Features
Nissan has integrated an extensive suite of driver-assistance technologies into the new Navara. The package encompasses Intelligent Cruise Control for highway relaxation, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) systems that monitor road positioning, and an emergency lane-keeping mechanism capable of assisting steering inputs during critical moments. Additionally, the Intelligent Speed Limiter reads traffic signs and alerts drivers to speed restrictions automatically.
This generation represents Nissan’s commitment to the Australian and New Zealand markets, where the Navara has accumulated approximately 500,000 sales across its lifespan. The refined suspension geometry specifically addresses local driving conditions, ensuring the truck performs equally well whether hauling cargo across outback highways or navigating suburban streets.
