Taiwan stocks break through the 28,100 point barrier! Memory and silicon photonics perform in relay, with funds布局 in computer peripherals and other diverse sectors.
International stock markets are experiencing a warm breeze, and the Taiwan stock market today (22nd) moved higher accordingly, with the intraday high surpassing 28,100 points, an increase of over 470 points, indicating sustained bullish buying sentiment. Notably, capital is not concentrated in a single sector but is rotating among different groups, from stable large-cap stocks to memory chips firing on all cylinders, and then to photonics and third-generation semiconductors, collectively driving more than 24 listed stocks to hit the daily limit-up. Market activity is lively, and sector performances are blooming everywhere.
Capital Rotation Initiates, Large-Cap Stocks Lead Steadily
TSMC (2330) continues its strength, surging to NT$1,470 during the session, nearly a 2.8% increase, firmly playing the role of the market’s driver. Hon Hai (2317) also rises modestly, about 1.8%. However, MediaTek (2454) shows a pattern of opening high and then retreating, turning red at one point with a decline of over 1%, reflecting ongoing capital shifts among electronic large-cap stocks.
Memory Chip Sector Explodes Across the Board, Becomes the Market’s Focus
Recently targeted by multiple foreign institutions for price upgrades, memory chip stocks today concentrated their efforts and became market focal points. Powerchip (6770) surged early to hit the daily limit at NT$40.45, with trading volume surpassing 460,000 shares, quickly becoming the most popular stock. Nanya Technology’s subsidiary, Fuman (8131), also performed brilliantly. The company announced a NT$700 million investment to build advanced packaging capacity to target AI and high-performance computing (HPC) memory markets, pushing its stock to hit the daily limit at NT$56.3, with over 12,000 buy orders at that price during the session.
Photonics and Third-Generation Semiconductors Rise on Momentum
Besides memory chips, photonics and third-generation semiconductor supply chains are also favored by capital. GaAs wafer foundry leader Wusys (3105) rebounded strongly after last week’s consolidation, reaching NT$191 and hitting the daily limit before noon. Market analysts suggest that Nexperia, a Dutch semiconductor company, announced its exit from GaN (Gallium Nitride) power amplifier chip manufacturing, creating opportunities for Taiwanese firms to take over order transfers, attracting capital to preemptively position.
In the photonics sector, Lextar (4979) rose over 9% during the session, Wite (6706) gained more than 8%, while Polwatt (3163), Pan Quen (6830), and Walsin (2344) also increased over 5%. The overall group performance is strong, reflecting market optimism about optical communication and high-speed transmission long-term themes.
Multiple Sectors Rise Together, Computer Peripherals and Others Follow
From the market structure perspective, today’s capital movement shows healthy rotation rather than excessive concentration:
Communication Networks: Xinfu Xing (4909), Hwa Electric Network (6163), Yaodeng (3138) all hit the daily limit.
Electronic Components and Computer Peripherals: Yijia (2402), Wende (6761), Wistron (2357) performed strongly, with related computer peripheral stocks also attracting capital.
Construction, Chemical, and Automotive Stocks: Gongxin (5521), Risheng Chemical (1735), Dazhong Holdings (3701), Jimiao (1587) all hit the daily limit.
This phenomenon highlights an increased risk appetite in the market, with funds actively seeking targets with thematic or rebound potential across various fields.
Year-End Portfolio Building and Growth Themes Support the Market
Overall, the Taiwan stock market, driven by international capital and internal year-end portfolio adjustments, successfully broke through recent consolidation ranges, led by industries with solid fundamentals and growth potential. Analysts point out that as AI applications expand, computing demands from cloud to edge devices will continue to grow, fueling long-term growth in advanced semiconductor processes, high-speed transmission, memory, and advanced packaging supply chains.
Investors should focus on stocks recently upgraded by foreign institutions, with competitive technological advantages or clear operational outlooks for next year, and consider appropriate positioning in the year-end rally. Meanwhile, be aware that market rotation speeds are accelerating; avoid blindly chasing highs, prioritize industry trend-protected stocks as core holdings, and closely monitor international stock market movements and trading volume changes as key references for decision-making.
