Hackers Lose $3.7 Million in a Week by Selling ETH

Abstract generation in progress

The horror movie for every trader: buy at the top and sell at the bottom. Two wallets suspected of being linked to hackers just pulled off exactly that.

According to on-chain data, these wallets bought 5,480 ETH a week ago at an average of $3,735 each. It sounded good at the time. But yesterday, with the market in a downturn, they liquidated everything for roughly $20.47 million.

The details:

  • Purchase price: $3,735/ETH
  • Sale price: approximately $3,733/ETH (after losing nearly 0.05%)
  • Total loss: about $3.7 million

In just 7 days, these “cybersecurity experts” managed to burn nearly $4 million. Some say it was due to market pressure. Others speculate it was a money laundering move. What’s clear is that even hackers aren’t immune to the pump-and-dump game — not even with access to other people’s wallets.
