Major move from the White House: 401(k) investors can allocate encryption and other alternative assets
[Coin World] The White House announced that President Donald J. Trump has signed an executive order allowing 401(k) investors to access alternative assets such as private equity, real estate, and digital assets to enhance returns and diversify risks. The order requires the Secretary of Labor to reassess and clarify the fiduciary duties and related procedures of trustees for alternative asset investments in 401(k) and other defined contribution plans governed by ERISA, and to collaborate with federal agencies such as the Department of the Treasury and the SEC to promote regulatory adjustments, while also directing the SEC to amend regulations to facilitate the allocation of such assets in retirement savings plans.
