YouTube account was hacked and a scam trading bot was deployed, having stolen 256 ETH.
[Chain News] On August 7, it was reported that some YouTube accounts that had previously published crypto news and investment tips have been hijacked by criminals to promote scam Bots that steal Crypto Assets. The Bots hide smart contracts designed to steal Crypto Assets. So far, over 256 ETH have been stolen.
A senior threat researcher at a security company, Alex Delamotte, stated in a report that this scam has been "widespread and ongoing" since at least 2024, spreading through YouTube videos shared on social media that provide tips on deploying Crypto Assets trading Bots and smart contracts code. After victims deploy the smart contracts, the attackers' wallets are added and disguised as trading addresses to hide. Once users fund the contract, the scammers can steal the funds. Victims must fund the contract for the scam to succeed.
