IG Group lists in the UK and launches cryptocurrency trading for retail investors
IG Group, the trading and financial services company in the United Kingdom, has just launched cryptocurrency trading for retail investors, allowing them to access 31 cryptoassets, including Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP. This marks a shift from providing access to cryptoassets through contracts for difference to direct trading.
The new product is in collaboration with Uphold, a regulated cryptoassets company in the US and the UK, allowing customers to convert between cryptoasset accounts and other accounts on the IG platform.
This move comes as the United Kingdom is pushing for regulation of cryptocurrencies, with the Financial Conduct Authority reviewing new rules for stablecoins and custodians, aimed at protecting investors from risks.
