A major bank's 5-year prediction for XRP: "It will surpass Ethereum."

The banking giant Standard Chartered has published a 5-year price forecast for XRP. According to the report prepared by Geoffrey Kendrick, who heads the bank's digital asset research unit, XRP could rise to $12.5 by 2029 with a 500% increase from today’s price of approximately $2. The report suggested that the third largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization could reach $5.50 by the end of this year, $8 by 2026, and $12.5 by 2028.

"XRP will surpass Ethereum"

Commenting on the subject with The Block, Kendrick stated, "By the end of 2028, we expect XRP's market capitalization to surpass Ethereum, which will elevate XRP to the position of the second largest digital asset at that time."

Kendrick also claimed that "the customs tax confusion will soon come to an end" and that "Bitcoin's strong performance during this period indicates that a new upward momentum is coming to the market."

Explained the XRP prediction for 3 reasons

Kendrick attributes the prediction that XRP will reach these price levels to three reasons. The Standard Chartered executive lists them as legal developments, institutional adoption, and expanding use cases. Reminding that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has dropped its appeal in the (SEC) XRP case, Kendrick also claims that the SEC will approve XRP spot ETF applications in the third quarter of 2025. His expectation is that these ETFs will receive between 4 to 8 billion dollars in investments in the first year.

On the other hand, Kendrick emphasized that the core function of XRP, the ability to facilitate value transfer across borders and between currencies, overlaps with the fastest-growing use case of digital assets, similar to stable coins. Highlighting that the trading volumes of stable coins have recorded a 50% growth each year, Kendrick added that this is expected to increase tenfold over the next four years.

Kendrick stated that XRP's blockchain could be a tokenization chain. The Standard Chartered analyst said, "The XRP blockchain, or XRP Ledger, could become a payment and tokenization chain." At this point, Kendrick compared the XRP Ledger to Stellar, which has a similar architecture, and argued that Stellar is currently the second largest player in the tokenization market, suggesting that the XRP Ledger could achieve similar success.

He said 250 dollars for AVAX, was cautious towards ETH.

Kendrick stated that he expects Bitcoin to reach 500 thousand dollars by the end of 2028. Last week, he made a prediction that AVAX could reach 250 dollars with an increase of more than 10 times by the end of 2029. Kendrick, who has made more cautious forecasts regarding Ethereum, announced his price target for 2025 as 4 thousand dollars, reducing it by 60 percent.
