On March 17, Bitcoin.com reported that Trump's second wife, Marla Maples, posted on social media on Sunday, calling on Trump and his team to drop the lawsuit against the "Bitcoin Jesus" Roger Ver. The video about Roger Ver's philanthropy went viral, with Trump's ex-wife, Marla Maples, retweeting the video to her 61,500 X-Platform followers on Sunday and saying, "Share more about the call for the indictment against Roger Ver to be dropped." In the retweet, she retweeted U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Counsel Dave Warrington, Elon Musk, and President Trump's @realDonaldTrump X account. Roger Ver was arrested in Spain last May and charged by the United States with mail fraud, tax evasion, and filing false tax returns. Known online as the "Bitcoin Jesus," he was an early adopter of Bitcoin and the former CEO of digital wallet developer Bitcoin.com. BlockBeats previously reported that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin had said that "Roger Ver's life sentence for nonviolent tax crimes is ridiculous. Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web Silk Road, who was pardoned by Trump, also expressed his support, "Roger Ver helped me when I was at a low point, and now he needs our support. No one should be sentenced to life in prison for tax issues. Let him pay his taxes, if any, and settle the matter." But Musk seems to have a different opinion, Musk replied to the discussion on social platforms on January 26 about "when will Roger Ver be pardoned", saying that "Roger Ver has renounced his U.S. citizenship and is not eligible for pardon."
