Abstract generation in progress

Golden Finance reports that on March 31, Musk posted on X, saying that the future of AI mainly lies in video understanding and generation: “Because photons are, so far, the highest-bandwidth form of communication, these are key tools on the path to AGI,” and he also said that xAI’s image generation tool Grok Imagine “has positive gross profit; it’s not a money-losing project.”
The backdrop for this statement is that OpenAI announced last week that it would shut down its AI video platform, Sora. According to the WSJ and multiple media outlets, since Sora launched in September of last year, its cumulative revenue has been about $2.1 million, and its reported daily average operating loss is about $1 million. OpenAI also terminated its cooperation agreement with Disney worth $1 billion.
Musk did not disclose the specific revenue figures for Grok Imagine. He previously said on March 25 that “the next version of Grok Imagine will be excellent; we’re increasing our investment,” and that it “is a more important tool than people realize.”
