Canaan Launches Avalon A16 Miner Delivering 300 TH/s and 12.8 Joules per Terahash
Canaan Inc. has pulled the curtain back on its next-generation Avalon A16 series bitcoin miner, revealing the A16XP model at the Blockchain Life 2025 summit in Dubai. The new ASIC-powered machine flexes 300 terahash per second (TH/s) with a lean energy efficiency rating of 12.8 joules per terahash (J/TH).
Canaan Launches 300 TH/s Avalon A16
According to the media release, the A16XP, an air-cooled mining machine, aims to give miners a sharper edge in an increasingly competitive environment where every joule counts. The company says, Canaan’s signature durability and reliability, the machine is designed to help mining operators maintain uptime and efficiency even as network difficulty ratchets higher.
Chairman and CEO Nangeng Zhang further said the launch reflects “a leap forward for the Company in both energy efficiency and computing power,” adding that the A16 series continues Canaan’s streak of “engineering excellence and execution.” Earlier in October 2025, Canaan secured its largest hardware order in three years—a significant 50,000-unit sale of its Avalon A15 Pro miners to a major, but unnamed U.S. bitcoin mining firm.
Canaan says the A16 series represents more than just faster hashing—it’s a statement on vertical integration. The company continues expanding across the bitcoin value chain, from chip design to hardware manufacturing, self-mining, and even treasury management. This end-to-end strategy, it claims, strengthens its resilience through the cyclical nature of the mining sector.
As Canaan scales up globally, it plans to reinforce its international sales and post-sale support network, bringing what it calls “world-class hardware solutions” to miners aiming for that ever-elusive efficiency edge. Still, the ASIC manufacturing sector is seething with competitors like Auradine, Bitmain, Block, and MicroBT. All of these firms have been adding new units to the bitcoin mining arms race as well.
