Iran refuses to reach a temporary ceasefire agreement, and demands that ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz be charged a fee

Golden Finance reported that on April 7, citing remarks from senior Iranian officials, Reuters reported that Tehran has rejected any interim ceasefire agreement with the United States. Tehran has set preconditions for talks with the United States on “lasting peace.” The preconditions include an immediate halt to attacks, assurances that no attacks will occur again, and compensation for losses. Under a permanent peace agreement, Tehran is demanding fees be charged for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with the fees varying according to the type of vessel, the cargo it carries, and current transit conditions.
