US media: Iran cuts off direct diplomatic communication with the United States

Golden Finance reports that on April 7, Middle East officials said that because Trump made a morning threat to destroy Iran’s entire civilization, Iran has cut off direct communication with the United States, but negotiations with the ceasefire mediators are still ongoing. The officials said that this move temporarily increases the difficulty for Trump to reach an agreement before his 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night Eastern Time deadline. However, the talks have not been halted as a result. One official said that Iran intends to use the cutoff of communication to express dissatisfaction and resistance. It is still unclear whether direct dialogue will resume before the deadline. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (The Wall Street Journal)
