Google has launched Nano Banana 2, the latest version of its image generation model, which has become the default image generation model for the Gemini app. The model, technically called Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, generates images faster than its Pro version while maintaining high fidelity, supporting up to 4K resolution and complex prompts with fine details. It will also serve as the default image generation model in Google Search (via Lens and AI mode) in 141 countries/regions, as well as in Flow video editor. All images generated using this model will feature a SynthID watermark for AI recognition.
