## "Complementary Infrastructure"

Elbill Karamann, the founder of Huma Finance, which operates the world's first "PayFi" network based on Solana (SOL), spoke to CoinPost on the 6th about the importance of Japanese yen stablecoins. He stated that it is important to position them as "mutually complementary infrastructures" with US dollar stablecoins, emphasizing a cooperative relationship rather than a competitive one.

Humana Finance is a protocol that enables immediate liquidity and real-time settlement grounded in actual demand such as trade settlements. It has processed over $50 billion in transactions to date and aims to build a payment-linked yield model through bridging traditional finance and decentralized finance.

Mr. Karaman is an expert in the stablecoin and payment field who was invited to the signing ceremony of the Genius Bill (Stablecoin Regulation Act) held in Washington, D.C. last month. The core team is scheduled to visit Japan in conjunction with WebX held on August 25-26 and SuperTokyo on August 24.

Role of Yen-denominated Stablecoins

He mentioned the division of roles between the USD and yen-denominated stablecoins, explaining that "the USD contributes to global financial infrastructure, while yen-denominated stablecoins improve regional practicality." In particular, there is a possibility that yen-denominated stablecoins will be utilized in B2B transactions between Japan and other Asian countries, indicating a recognition that they can provide new trade settlement options that do not rely on correspondent banks.

Mr. Karamann also pointed out the importance of efficient currency exchange between the yen and the dollar, as well as the seamless development of on- and off-ramps. In domestic business transactions and specific trade relations in Japan, yen-denominated settlements are often a natural occurrence, and he suggested that the yen could function as part of a multi-currency stablecoin ecosystem.

Furthermore, with Japanese manufacturing in mind, it is also anticipated that programmable money will be utilized to automate the complex cash flows of trade finance and supply chain finance. The company joined the Paxos-led Global Dollar Network in June and is currently promoting the adoption of stablecoins alongside Robinhood and Kraken.
