Several reasons regarding whether VINE will be replaced by "Imagine"

Regarding whether $VINE will be replaced by “Imagine”, I would like to discuss a few points of logic:

1. $VINE has always been a MEME, which embodies the market’s expectation of whether the previously shut down Vine short video platform can be successfully restarted. Therefore, as long as either @elonmusk or @rus has not clearly stated that they have given up on the plan to restart Vine, $VINE will continue to exist.

2. The recent high-frequency promotion and mention of Grok Imagine by Elon does not mean that Imagine is going to replace VINE. Even if Elon said that Grok Imagine is the AI Vine, Imagine is just a product branch function, much like Grok is the AI module of X. Imagine is merely a feature module of Grok that turns images into videos. Elon’s high-profile promotion of Grok Imagine is only to highlight Grok’s AI enhancement capabilities, and it does not mean that Imagine is to be used to rename Vine; at least, Old Man Musk has not “explicitly” stated that.

3. “Bring back Vine” is not just a slogan; it contains a complex mix of cultural, emotional, brand, and IP factors. This means that Vine is a cultural symbol with special significance, carrying the internet memories of a generation, and this emotional value is hard to replace. In this context, Elon’s mention of restarting Vine in the form of AI ultimately aims to achieve the goal of reviving Vine, with Grok imagine being a demonstration of core product capabilities before reaching that ultimate goal. In other words, without the idea of revitalizing Vine, there would be no need to mention it; isn’t the goal of using AI also to restart it?

The reason why Grok Imagine has been repeatedly emphasized as AI Vine is just to express one point: Vine will “accelerate” its return in the form of AI empowerment. Don’t forget, the core of the Vine short video platform is 6s videos. If Imagine can directly convert images into 6s short videos with real-time rendering capabilities as Elon mentioned, this will definitely be a core selling point after Vine’s reboot. It is very likely that Imagine will coexist as a creative tool, while Vine will serve as a social distribution platform, which is also supported by Rus’s response of “both”.

5. Market expectations for $VINE have always stemmed from whether Vine will really be restarted, whether Rus can hold a key position at X, especially with Vine’s logo being integrated into X’s content interface, and even whether VINE will circulate as a tipping currency on Vine, etc. However, it is important to note that as of now, MEME can only carry a sense of cultural belonging; unless X, as a commercial entity, explicitly states that it will empower the restarted Vine and the corresponding token $VINE, the market’s expected valuation, price growth, and sentiment expectations all carry speculative risks.
