The world's largest liquid ammonia transport ship is being built in Shanghai.

On March 7th, Golden Ten Data reported that the first ship (H2721) of the series of 93000 cubic meters Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) built by Jiangnan Shipyard, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, for Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) officially started construction. The series consists of a total of 6 ships, which were signed in April and August 2023, marking the world’s first orders for 93K VLAC, and also the first cooperation between Jiangnan Shipyard and EPS. The 93000 cubic meter VLAC is currently the world’s largest ammonia transport ship, with a total length of 230.0 meters, a beam of 36.6 meters, a depth of 22.5 meters, a draft of 13.0 meters, and classed by Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, UK.
