just read about this wild story with the Satoshi Nakamoto statue in Lugano that got stolen back in August. so basically this artist Valentina Picozzi created this insane optical illusion sculpture representing Bitcoin's creator, and someone literally threw it in a lake lol. the whole thing is kind of hilarious and inspiring at the same time.

what's crazy is they actually recovered it from the lake after someone on X suspected that's where it ended up. Satoshigallery was offering 0.1 BTC as a reward for tips, and sure enough the statue of Satoshi Nakamoto turned up. the artist posted recovery photos and is now talking about doing Kintsugi repairs - that Japanese technique where you fix broken stuff with gold coating. pretty poetic if you ask me.

Lugano had been trying to position itself as a Bitcoin hub, and they unveiled this Satoshi Nakamoto statue back in October 2024 as part of that push. the theft happened right after they put up another one in Tokyo too. there's a petition now asking the city to help with security and restoration support. honestly it's kind of beautiful how the community rallied around recovering it. BTC is sitting around 72.5K right now if anyone's wondering where we're at price-wise.
