Just been looking into this because groceries have gotten ridiculous lately. So apparently there's a bunch of apps that let you buy groceries now and pay later in installments, which honestly sounds way better than putting everything on a credit card and getting hit with interest.
Affirm seems solid if you shop at the big places like Walmart, Target, or Costco. You can either do their Pay in 4 thing (no fees, four payments over two weeks) or monthly plans, though those can get pricey with interest rates up to 36% APR. The good part is no hard credit check and no late fees on the 4-payment option.
Afterpay is simpler if you're just starting out with this stuff. No interest if you pay on time, app is easy to use, and you get a virtual card for your phone wallet. Downside is it's only pay-in-4, no other options, and late fees can add up.
PayPal's version is interesting because they actually partnered with major stores like Walmart and Target. They've got multiple options - Pay in 4, Pay Monthly, or PayPal Credit which gives you like six months interest-free. That's actually pretty generous if you need breathing room. Just watch out for the APR after the promotional period ends.
Then there's Splitit, which is kind of different. It works with your existing credit card so you can literally split purchases at any store that takes your card. No credit check needed, which is nice. You pick how many installments you want and that's it.
Honestly, if you're struggling with grocery bills month to month, one of these could help. The key is just not missing payments because the fees add up fast. I'd probably go with whichever one matches where I actually shop, rather than signing up for everything. Beats paying 20%+ interest on a credit card.
