Wait, so Pakistan is now growing the world's most expensive mango? Just saw this - they're cultivating Miyazaki mangos in Karachi, the ones with that striking purple color that go for like $800-900 per kg internationally. Here in Pakistan it's selling for Rs 300,000 per kilogram, which is absolutely insane. This farmer Ghulam Hashim Noorani imported a sapling from Japan six years ago and managed to pull it off - apparently it's the only one in the entire country. The fruit is fiberless, super soft, melts like cream, and tastes incredibly sweet. They call it "Eggs of Sunshine" because of how it looks. The purple mango price point is wild considering Indian mangos are getting rejected in the US right now. Most of the harvest is going for export anyway. Honestly didn't expect to see Japanese luxury fruit farming happening in Malir of all places lol
