Iran claims multi-department operation hits rescue of U.S. military aircraft

On April 5, according to CCTV International News, Iran’s Armed Forces’ Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hartam Anbaya Central Command today (April 5) issued a statement saying that in response to the actions taken by the United States to rescue the pilot of an aircraft it had shot down, Revolutionary Guard fighters carried out a joint operation with Basij militias, and with the cooperation of the law-enforcement commandos’ assault unit, they hit and destroyed the enemy aircraft in the south of Isfahan. The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also said on the same day that, during the U.S. airman rescue operation, Iran’s armed forces conducted a coordinated, multi-department operation and destroyed the enemy aircraft. At present, this report has not yet been confirmed by the U.S. side. On the same day, according to a report on the website of The New York Times, two U.S. military transport aircraft experienced a malfunction and were “stranded” while conducting a pilot rescue mission in Iran; the U.S. military subsequently dispatched three new aircraft to continue the rescue mission and blew up the two malfunctioning transport aircraft.
