The average oil price 20 years ago was about $70 per barrel.


Today’s price of $106 is equivalent to roughly $67 per barrel in 2006 dollars.
So, in real terms, today’s oil price isn’t high.
If anything, it’s relatively low, especially considering the current situation in Iran.
