On February 22, according to Axios, South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that several people close to President Trump advised him not to bomb Iran. Graham urged Trump to ignore their opinions. A close ally of Trump, Graham is a leading figure within the pro-strike Iran camp in Trump’s circle. Graham said, “Given past entanglements, I understand people’s concerns about conducting large-scale military operations in the Middle East. However, those advising against involvement seem to overlook the consequences of allowing evil forces to go unchecked.” Graham stated that after his recent visit to the region, he believes there is an opportunity to bring about “historic change” in Iran. He said, “But what is becoming increasingly clear to me is that the voices opposing involvement and decisive action are growing louder. How all this will develop, time will tell.”
