According to the latest reports, yesterday (February 20), Shanghai airports handled a single-day passenger flow of 424,900 people, including 275,700 at Pudong Airport and 149,200 at Hongqiao Airport, representing a 6.4% increase compared to the same period last year during the Spring Festival travel rush, setting a new record and marking a “good start” for the new year.
This year’s Spring Festival travel rush has seen continued growth in passenger traffic at Shanghai airports, driven by the expansion of China’s visa-free “friend circle” to include Canada and the United Kingdom, as well as sustained high demand for inbound and outbound tourism, northern snow and ice tourism, and southern winter escapes. Data shows that from February 2, when the Spring Festival travel rush began, through yesterday (February 20), Shanghai airports handled over 46,000 flights in and out, including 31,000 at Pudong and 15,000 at Hongqiao, a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year. Passenger numbers reached 7.434 million, with 4.806 million at Pudong and 2.628 million at Hongqiao, representing a 3.8% increase year-over-year.
While passenger flow continues to grow, Shanghai airports actively implement the civil aviation service philosophy of genuine care, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the entire travel process and refining service measures to ensure passengers travel safely, conveniently, and warmly.
