Understanding Your Account Orders and Trade History Types

When managing your trades, it’s important to know the difference between two key history records available in your account: Trade History and Order History. Each serves a distinct purpose in tracking your trading activity, and understanding when to use each one will help you better monitor your account performance.

What’s Captured in Your Trade History

Within the ‘Orders & Trades’ section, your Trade History provides a complete log of all executed transactions. This record shows the actual details of each completed trade—including the exact execution price, quantity, and timestamp. Beyond transaction specifics, it also documents all trading fees you’ve paid or collected during these executions, as well as any funding fees associated with your positions. Think of Trade History as your settlement record: it only includes trades that were actually completed and processed.

What’s Stored in Your Order History

Your Order History, also accessible through ‘Orders & Trades’, maintains a broader record of your order activity. Unlike Trade History, this log captures every order you’ve placed—whether it was executed, still pending, or cancelled. This includes limit orders, conditional orders, and all other order types. Order History is particularly useful for reviewing how your orders were placed, their status at various points in time, and the complete history of your order management decisions.

How These Two Histories Differ

The fundamental distinction lies in what each record represents. Trade History focuses on the actual transactions that settled—it’s the final record of positions you opened or closed. In contrast, Order History documents the order placement timeline and reflects the evolution of order status, capturing every order you’ve issued regardless of whether it was ultimately executed or remained unfilled. This means Order History is more comprehensive, while Trade History is more focused on completed activity. Understanding this difference helps you locate specific information quickly: use Trade History when analyzing completed trades and fees, and use Order History when reviewing your overall order placement strategy and history.
