Abstract generation in progress

CCTV Reporter learned on February 21 (local time) that after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration’s large-scale tariff measures were illegal, hundreds of companies, including major retailers like Costco, have filed lawsuits demanding refunds for payments made under the tariffs that the U.S. Supreme Court previously ruled were “exceeding authority.”

According to data from U.S. Customs and Border Protection in December last year, tariffs implemented under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act have accumulated to approximately $130 billion. An estimate from the University of Pennsylvania suggests that this total may now exceed $175 billion.

Some economists say that the process for companies to apply for refunds of paid tariffs is still unclear, but U.S. companies eligible for refunds are not the only groups bearing the burden of tariffs.
