Russian President’s Press Secretary Peskov stated on February 19 that the trilateral negotiations on the Ukraine issue are currently not open for public discussion. The Kremlin has no further comments on the evaluation of the Geneva negotiations by Russian delegation leader Meginisky on the 18th. He also pointed out that the Kremlin has not announced the location for the next round of talks on the Ukraine issue and no plans have been made for a phone call between Russian and American leaders. He further stated that Russia calls on Iran and all parties to exercise restraint in the Middle East and to resolve issues through diplomatic means. Russia has recorded an unprecedented escalation of tensions around Iran and hopes to resolve the situation through diplomatic channels. Additionally, the joint maritime exercises between Russia and Iran are part of the planned schedule and were agreed upon before the escalation involving the U.S. took place. (CCTV News)
