CCTV Reporter learned on February 20th local time that U.S. President Trump stated that the Supreme Court’s ruling declaring the tariff policy illegal is “shameful.”
Sources familiar with the matter said that during a breakfast meeting with governors at the White House that day, Trump stated that he has considered alternative plans to address the impact of the court’s ruling.
Currently, the White House has not announced specific details of the replacement measures. Previously, government officials had indicated that if the tariff policy is deemed illegal, they would consider restoring relevant tariffs through other trade laws.
Earlier that day, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the large-scale tariff measures implemented by the Trump administration under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act lacked clear legal authorization.
