The Ethereum Foundation announces the establishment of a platform team with the goal of building a unified platform that leverages the combined advantages of Ethereum L1 + L2.
ChainCatcher News: The Ethereum Foundation announces the formation of the Platform Team, aiming to build the most robust Ethereum platform possible, enabling Layer 1 and Layer 2 to better support users, applications, and all organizations built on Ethereum.
Improve the relationship between Layer 1 and Layer 2 to create a mutually reinforcing system across different layers. The foundation states that since the initial proposal of a Rollup-centric roadmap five years ago, an ecosystem of chains has developed around Ethereum Layer 1. The early mindset of Rollups has been replaced by differentiated Layer 2 networks, each with a unique and valuable economic system, extending Ethereum’s core features to millions of users.
As Ethereum matures, the foundation believes more measures are necessary to build a unified platform that fully leverages the unique advantages of the Ethereum system (L1 + L2). This includes enhancing Layer 2’s value proposition, optimizing its adoption mechanisms to create more value for Ethereum, guiding the ecosystem toward a more secure, permissionless architecture, and simplifying the adoption process for users and institutions.
More importantly, building a strong Ethereum means driving technological improvements to strengthen and enhance Ethereum’s core features and its unique advantages.
