Recently, Huanggang Customs seized 135,000 Hong Kong dollars in cash carried by a traveler departing the country without declaration.

On that day, customs officers at Huanggang Customs were monitoring outbound travelers and their luggage when they noticed a male traveler entering the customs supervision area without declaring the cash, appearing nervous and walking abnormally. They immediately intercepted and inspected him. Further inspection revealed that the traveler had HKD 20,000 in cash in each of his left and right shoes, and HKD 95,000 in cash in his outer pockets and personal bag, totaling HKD 135,000. Verification confirmed that this was his first outbound trip within 15 days.

Customs reminds travelers: According to regulations, when carrying Hong Kong dollars for the first time within 15 days, the limit is equivalent to USD 5,000. Any amount exceeding this limit will not be released by customs. If you need to carry large amounts of cash beyond the limit, you should apply in advance for an outbound foreign exchange permit from the foreign exchange administration or bank.
