Hainan Free Trade Port's entire island closure operation reaches two months; visa-free entry of foreign travelers increases by over 62% year-on-year

Beijing News Shell Finance Report: The full island closure operation of Hainan Free Trade Port has been in effect for over two months. As of February 21, the latest data from the Haikou Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station shows that the closure operation is overall stable and orderly, with efficient and smooth entry and exit management.

Driven by the policies of “opening at the front line, controlling at the second line, and free movement within the island,” the number of international travelers has increased significantly. As of 9 a.m. on February 18, 143,000 foreign travelers entered Hainan visa-free, a year-on-year increase of 62.2%. Visa-free travelers account for 94.4% of all foreign arrivals, with Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, and other countries being the main source markets.

It is understood that since the closure operation of Hainan Free Trade Port began, the Haikou Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station has processed over 616,000 inbound and outbound travelers, a 34.2% increase compared to the same period last year; and has inspected 4,960 transportation vehicles (ships), a 28% increase year-on-year.
