TSMC plans to mass-produce 3nm chips in Japan, with investment increasing to $17 billion

TSMC has notified the Japanese government that the main production process at its Japanese subsidiary JASM’s second wafer fab will be upgraded from the original 6nm to 3nm. This will be the first production capability with a 3-nanometer process in Japan, with total investment increasing to $17 billion. It is reported that the Japanese government is considering providing additional support for the new investment plan. (Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily)
